Every Thursday evening during the summer, starting promptly at 6:30pm, SMSA sponsors races in the Patuxent River,
normally right off the boardwalk in Solomons. We like to keep things very informal, using short starting cycles
and short courses so we can cram in as many races as possible before dusk. Classes and starts are determined and
announced on the water based on the boats in attendance. We use Portsmouth Yardstick handicapping to figure out
winners each week, and a cumulative winner for the season.
Its really just an excuse to have a good time and exploit an excellent sailing venue!
What to do
Print and bring the Registration Form along with the appropriate entry fee, and show up.
Thursday night races are a non-profit program; entry fees are used for committee/crash boat fuel and up keep.

Sailing Instructions
The races held on Thursday nights will be sailed under the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2005-2008 and the
SMSA Small Boat Program Sailing Instructions.
Social
Join us for a post-race social at the SMSA Clubhouse for the
evening's results & a bite to eat. Recap the night's events with
competitors & friends. Light fare will be available
(with a request for an equitable donation), and the bar will be open.
