Membership - Welcome New Members
Please help me welcome some of our recently approved new members to the club.
First is Michael and Judy Zoll, who were approved for a family membership back in late August. Michael and Judy, along with their 12-year old daughter Rachel were able to meet and socialize with many club members as they ventured to Battle Creek for the annual Mixed Couples Race/Cruise aboard their Catalina 34, Talisman. Michael and Judy seemed to enjoy themselves at the raft up, while Rachel had fun swimming and playing with Hannah and Emma Schroeder, Rod and Pat Schroeder’s grandchildren. Michael and Judy have indicated that they are interested in our cruising and junior program. The Zoll’s were sponsored by Maggie Weir, their H Dock slip neighbor at Zahniser’s Yachting Center.
Second is Don Fletcher, who was approved for an individual membership in October. Don's interest in SMSA is preliminarily in racing. He has been participating in our big boat program for several years as a crewmember aboard Lickety Split and more recently aboard Status Quo. Don's 11-year old son, Noah, is also a Wednesday Night Race participant on Status Quo and recently participated in the Hospice Challenge as crew for Jimmy Yurko aboard the club’s FJ’s. Don was sponsored by Jimmy Yurko.
Lastly, just approved for reinstatement in October was Bob Stratton for an individual membership. Bob has been a club member on and off since 1997 and was originally sponsored by the late Jack Evans. He has been active in SMSA's racing, facilities and social programs over the past several years and served as the Race Boat Captain in 2006. When he is not working on or racing his Peterson 34 Slot Machine, Bob is often seen at the clubhouse or crewing aboard Pursuit.
If you know anyone who is interested in racing, cruising or socializing with SMSA, please help do your part by inviting them to attend one of our on the water or land based activities as your guest and encourage them to join. Membership growth is vital to SMSA’s future.
